skateboards to help the competitors get ready and stay in shape
for the contest!
After a very successful
"Reef Big Wave World
Championship '98" in Todos
Santos, Mexico and the
"ISA World Surfing Games
98" in Cascais, Portugal,
the ISA team lead by
Fernando Aguerre and Cadu
Villela are joining forces
with Gary Linden and
Ricardo Dominigues to host
the: "Reef Big Wave World
Championship '99" (a.k.a.
"Reef @ Todos")
Participants: The top 10
National Teams from the
ISA World Surfing Games
'98 , Mexico (host nation)
and a Wild card. Teams
participating: Australia,
Brazil, South Africa,
Portugal, France, USA,
Hawaii, New Zealand,
Japan, Tahiti, Mexico, and
a wild card (TBA).
When: Waiting period:
February 06-17, 1999. The
event will only start if
the waves are bigger than
10 foot (Hawaiian).
Where: Todos Santos
Island, Mexico, will be
again the arena for a
world class surfing
competition. Last year in
Todos Santos waves reached
50 feet faces and one wave
was worth $50K.
Why: The ISA is continuing
to encourage the
development of surfing
worldwide by organizing
world class team events.
Surfers from 12 different
national teams will have a
chance to compete in the
very extreme conditions of
Todos Santos, Mexico, and
show their talent in big
waves. The ISA is working
for a better surfing
future.
