Kelly Slater 40 World Champ Model Kelly Slater 40 - Kelly Slater is surfing's 6 time World Champ - 5 times in a row. Our goal when we hooked up with Kelly was pretty simple. We wanted
Kelly to help us design the best possible long skateboard using our 3/8" flexdex® material,
and mount up the best trucks - the Randal-2 x 10" carving trucks, superior wheels (custom Clear Kryptonics 65mm x 78a),
and the best bearings (ABEC5 8-ball racing bearings). Kelly was stoked.
When we worked on the
different designs, it was easy to tell which he liked better. When he liked one, he wouldn't
come back for a while. The KS40 was impossible to get back from him. He was cranking
down hills and side streets around Santa Monica getting the feel of the prototype at some
serious speed. To get the proto back, we finally told him to autograph it so it could be
auctioned at the Waterman's Ball. That worked, and it raised hundreds of dollars for charity.
Once the KS40 went into production as a K-Grip Skate brand by Flexdex, it was instant hit.
This is our Best Selling skateboard.Why? Maybe because it's the best board we make!
A lot of time and testing went into
this board. Kelly wouldn't put his name on something unworthy. Maybe that's why the
KS40 is rated the #1 longboard in the world by Grand Royal mag and is "ready to shred".
